Beauty in the Little Things

I decided to take a stroll through my own back yard a few days ago and try some photography. I love taking pictures. I was the girl with the friends who always groaned and covered their faces whenever I'd pull out my camera because I always had it with me. I was even fortunate enough to take a class in college on black and white photography. I hadn't done anything "artistic," since college, however. So I thought it was time to try something new!

These images are photoshopped to resemble "through the lens" photographs. It's a method of photography in which a digital camera is aimed looking through a vintage camera to get that old, scratchy, over saturated sort of image. I find such photographs to be really beautiful.

Here are some more examples of through the lens photography via Flickr!

Fo-to-jen-ik

If you enjoy taking photographs, even just as a casual hobby, you've probably moved into the digital world. If you do, and you haven't visited Photojojo yet, then it high time, my friend. Sent to your inbox or through RSS feed, this blog has an abundance useful information. They feature other photographers, give great tutorials, offer awesome tips and ideas for for more cost-effective (read: cheap) photographing, and link to contests and the newest, coolest gadgets.

Since so many of us, these days, are workin' our Etsy mojo, this article on taking better esty/instructibles photos might be just what you need to give your sales a little boost. It has lighting and background tips, as well as other useful information and ideas. Even links to tutorials for making your own light box and flash diffuser!
Oh, and another cool thing? If you use their Time Capsule, they'll randomly go through your old Flickr images and drag one out of the catacombs to bring back some memories for you! They deliver it straight to you inbox ever few weeks! It's great for those of us who have Flickr images we don't even remember uploading!
So, the moral of the story? Grab your digital camera and go take some photos!

A Fanciful Twist

I always love stumbling upon new blogs that inspire me. Vanessa at A Fanciful Twist is just one such blog. It's packed full of whimsy and delight. Her artwork is beautiful, and the photography on her blog is stunning.

She created some incredible pieces for a Swashbuckler party that would make the meanest pirate don stripes and polka dots just to attend! Don't forget to check out her lovely illustrations and her incredible dolls while you're there!

Welcome to Life Gives you Lemonds! I've had the idea for this space running through my head for some time now and hopefully it will soon be full of fun, crafty ideas, inspirations and personal musings, as well as reviews and opinions on great reads and the occasional film. ;) I'm trying to create a more creative lifestyle for myself and I hope to inspire others to do the same! I hope you come along with me for the journey!
